Shady is an original song. I was asked to arrange it by readers of Bass Guitar Magazine as it was a piece that I used as the introduction to the video companion to my lesson column. It was written on a rainy day during a family vacation on Cape Cod. In a Cabin on Shady Lane. It is a Funk/Latin tune. The “A” section is in a call and response format.

The “B” section is definitively more funky utilizing Slap technique combined with a harmonized ascending bass line. The difficulty of this song is dependent on one’s ability to slap. Combing slap with chords can be quite challenging. A duet recording with percussionist Brian Melick, can be found here: https://youtu.be/Dj3EO2ggxkE
